I’m late in mentioning this, but back in June my music was used in Journal Entry, 2021, a very beautiful new video piece by Seattle artist Robert Campbell. It was screened as part of the Currents New Media Festival in Santa Fe, NM that ran June 18-27. Bob combed through a bunch of my recorded work and pulled out the bits he liked. It was interesting for me to hear that music in a completely different context. We have talked about collaborating together in a more substantial way in the future, with me making new work for whatever he happens to be working on rather than recycling old material. I hope that happens, as I very much admire his work.
As a consequence of this, I have been asked to teach a course in sound for film and video at Cornish College of the Arts, starting next month. This will be an interesting challenge for me. I’m flattered and humbled and a little freaked out, as I have steadfastly worked outside of academia. But as my dear friend Chris Cochrane said, “Just think of how much you’ll learn!”
